Updates

Hey

Whats up guys?

I just logged on to my account after months and realised it badly needs an update... (last it was updated on 20 march 2007)

Well, things are pretty much the same except that I have put on a few excess kilos (as of yesterday I am 70 KGs).. I was 64 in Mid July. I guess Since my Mom has come the home food has done it's best to add the extra kilos..

Well, recently i have taken a puppy at home. Its a golden labrador breed. Its 2.5 months old as of now but eats like a gown up adult. Mom is alegic to dogs andf is really unhappy with my decission to have a pet dog at home. Am actually looking for a person who can adopt it. I initially named it Govind, but it sounded really silly, so he was recristened to Alex. He does all the things he is not supposed to do like- wetting and soiling the rooms at odd hours.

Those of you who wanted to see me get married soon, need to wait for another a year may be, till I actually make up my mind. As of now my Mom and sister in law have taken up the full time task to get me the best alliance they could.... (Watch this pace for latest .. soon)

Am at the same place - both stay and job wise.

Loved Beijing this week. It was 2 degrees and was amazing walking up the steps on the great wall.

May travel to Japan early 2008 to catch up with Atul (an old asshole from pondy-connection)

Those of you in western USA, I might droip in early 2nd quarter of '08.

I'm sure you guys wd have checked out the pucture of my hair cut, it was 18 inches long in 18 months.. I thought I wd be imotionally attached to the long hair, but in actual I wasn't. It was quite normal to get back to the old GENTLEMAN's look again.

Did I tell you that I tries successfully the para gliding in Mussourie a couple of months back? It was great fun and all of you must try it once..

I scored 66% in the dummy CAT last week in a website, later I felt, if the world needs me to do an MBA degree, I can do same with much ease than expected..

Ojha moved back to Bhubneshwar, a personal loss to me.

See you soon with more updates..

Chinese Sojourne

Hello There !

Just loaded a few picture from my last China trip, thought shall tell you all. Space is getting filled up with so may pictures, hope MSN people increase the storage limit else will have to delete some.

The best part of the China visit was catching up with Devother and Michael. They played perfect host to me. And believe me guys, China is miles ahead than we Indians. Very patriotic people I must say.

Well, for those of you who have been keeping a track of my hair length, there is some bad news. Am going to chop off the hair before the real summer steps in. May be will go bald for a change !!

News from personal side is I have shifted out of NOIDA (which was due since July 2005) finally to Munirka. Nice place, am quite liking it. My younger brother must be happier as its just 5 minutes to his work.  Neibours are mostly grandpas and grannies of some really good looking crowd. Though I have not been able to mingle with any of them, but yes, people have started recognising my face; the other day I was at priya with a frind and this aunty says hi to me, and it took a few seconds to realise that she stays in the flat above mine.. I wonder what they must be thinking about me, someone who leave s for work at 9/9.15 and back at 9/9.15, only time they see the doors and windows open are on weekends. Friends like Anita drop in regularly to make weekends much better.

A couple of close friends got married last month and now they have joined my family to rag me on a regular basis to vandalise my freedom of bachelorhood and celebacy.  Its quite bugging honestly and I dont like it at all. I mean it's my life, who the hell are you to advice me on what I should be doing with it? I hope this blog is read by all of them.

In 2007 I have two ambitions to fullfill. First and formost being able to buy a house somewhere, second a decent car. And those of you who have been laughing at me for not knowing how to drive, do drop in sometime for a race!! Yes, the good old Maruti 800 has been instrumental in making me brave enough to face the maddening Delhi traffic and now am confident like most of you.

Got to catch up with some work. See ya all soon.

Get-together on 23rd Dec

Hi
I have just loaded a few pictures taken at home on 23rd evening. It was a modest and cheerful gathering. It really felt good catching up with folks I know for the past 6 years but havent met them for months/years. Missed the ones who could not make it there.
There was ample food. Much of it went waste. All of us were busy talking with each other amidst light music and wine and cigar and cool breezy weather and lovely food. We may repeat same in some other's place may be by next month.
There have been lots of change at work. I mean the room renovation is going on so we are sitting elsewhere. Those of you who have seen me with my french beard, may find its gone now, in the new pictures. And I feel its time to chop off the long hair too. How about growing beard for a change?
With mom not around, its been quite happening every evening at home. I'm learning new recipies almost everyday. Going to bed late and waking up much much later than what I usually do. Have to shift place of residence in another 30 days flat. My landlord for 5 years has asked me to vacate the place so that he can do some renovation work.
I'm going to miss Noida.
Till Next Time,
Take Care and Stay Tuned!!

Hongkong & China

Hey Guys!
I should have written this some 3 months back after I came back from Hongkong! Past 3-4 months have been extremely hectic and stressfulllll ! Personal life & happennings was lost and missing completely - till the time I started taking lessons in Guitar, Swimming and Driving... So much so, I decided to swap my seat at work - to bring in some change in life.
Sometimes I feel so lonely in crowded Delhi. So all these endeavours are to spice up the life and kill the boredom and lonelyness out of my life... Hope September onwards things will be little better. Off late I have been watching quite a few movies, thanks to Satya Ojha and gang for coming back from UK. I liked Omkara - Saif is amazing in that.

See ya soon guys.. till then take care

Rishikesh

A trip to Rishikesh last weekend:

Well guys, how have you all been? Its more than 3 & 1/2 months since I updated my site last. Well, reasons are many. It has been kind of busy at the same time I did not find anything worthwhile to put on the space.

Most of you are aware that my mother left for Bangalore end December, and things have changed at home since then. I never missed my mom as much as I'm right now. Probably I stayed with my mom for something like 6 months after a  gap of may be 12 years..

The winter in Delhi was cool. I always like the winter as compared any other season. And in January I was looking around for a flat to buy, but all were way out of my budget. So dropped the idea for the time being. Do you know that I pay as much amount in rent what ideally one should pay as the monthly instalment for a house loan??

The pressure is on from my family for my marriage. My family is desparetely looking for a suitable bride for me these days, and at the same time they want me to find someone soon as my life partner. As per them I'm getting old. In fact I really am.

Well, the latest about me is that I'm growing my hair. I was actually lazy to go for a haircut and after 2 months I found it long enough to get inspired to grow longer!! And here I am today with a small little pony tail at the back of my head! Its taking many people by surprise, as they have never seen me with long hairs. And honestly am enjoying it too. I do not have a picture of my pony as yet else I wd have put it here for you all to see.

Went to Rishikesh on a sudden plan with Probudda and Sachin. It was quite hectic and fun filled.

Thats it for now. Shall be back very soon!

X-Mas and New year plans

Hi

As the X-mass fever grips everyone, I’m wondering why is it that I don’t ever plan for a x-mass party or any outing anywhere? So far I have never been out on traveling in the x-mas / new-year holiday period. When I was a student, this period was always considered as a holiday time to be spent with family.

And as I grew up sometimes I used to feel this opportunity must be taken to travel around, and as you know winter is the best time to travel within India.

I recon, when I was in Pondicherry as a student, I used to grab every possible chance to travel and see places around. And may be that’s how I ended up in seeing most of the places in the Southern part of India.

The other day my colleague Amit said he wants to visit the north-east. So do I. May be in the near future we will see ourselves amidst the tribal of Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan!!

My plans for a re-visit to Ladakh has been failing shamelessly for the past 2 years. I actually have stopped thinking about it now. The busy work load in summers make it possible to undertake any personal vacation during that period. My admin guys were telling me that I have 67 unutilized leave days for this year. Let me stop here, before I actually start repenting for the unutilized holidays and for not being able to go anywhere again this x-mass.

See you folks!

Europe Trip & Pictures

Europe Trip & Pictures

Hi ! Am back again. Its been a hectic month. There were travel, work, family, friends.. all happening at same time. The pictures from my Europe Trip (12-19 Nov) were ready, but there hardly were anytime to upload same into the site.

The experience was fabulous. Switzerland was amazing. But I loved Paris the most. So much so that if at all I need to relocate myself to a foreign country Paris will be in my topmost priority.

My travel companion Khushru too had a good time. He got into minute detailing while explaining me the new places – especially the nightlife. Ha ha.. But he snores like a horse.. My God ! I’m really surprised how I managed sharing rooms with him for one full week with his thunderous snores.

Well, seems like I got to run now. Loads of work, you know. See you all very soon.

Few Pictures from My NOIDA gang

Hi again !

Its been long since logged onto my space, reason being a hectic personal as well as professional schedule. my brother and sister inlaw with their lil son were here in Delhi for 2 weeks. Mainly to celebrate Diwali and to find a suitable bride for me. It seems they have seen 3 young girls here and once they do all the needful according to the Hindu Astrology, I will be asked to go and meet these girls before finalising on the ONE ! Only thing my family does not know is that whether I will take their instructions about my marriage or not ! Ha ha..

Those of you who do not belong to India, the Indian marriage could sound as complecated as a spider's net. I can keep posting regularly on Indian Wedding System, if I get some response.

Well, Bright Sam has quit the job and is leaving delhi for good. So On this sunday we decided to go around Delhi and click some memorable pictures. Now you must be thinking where all we visited.. well majorly it was only the India Gate area. As we had to be back at home before 2.30 PM to watch the cricket match, we had no time to go to any other place. Took some lovely snaps here and there, of the lot, my favorite is the one of Bright Sam at Yamuna river.

Plus, there are a few more pictures, all taken by Bright Sam in his camera. He burnt a CD for me of all the pictures. And here I'm uploading them to my space.

Bungee Jump in Phuket

"Do everything you fear, in this there is power, fear is not to be afraid of."

It's hard to ignore the universe communicating with you like that, so I went.

I was just watching “World’s Most Amazing Videos” on Reality TV. They show stuff like people failing field sobriety tests, cars crashing into each other, buildings collapsing on people, stuff like that. And of course they HAVE to show everyone’s favorite - Xtreme Sports gone wrong. Bungee cords snapping, parachutes not opening, it’s great. :) But then it got me thinking about a couple things…

  • I do not feel sorry at all for people who injure or kill themselves while doing things that the human body was not designed to do (namely jumping out of airplanes and off of platforms with a rubber band tied to their feet)
  • How silly are we as a society when we find these sort of things entertaining?

Regarding point number one, how can you feel sorry for someone who deliberately places himself in a position where possible or near death is a major part of the equation. Now, that statement is kind of ironic considering that it could be applied to anything as simple as driving a car, because FAR more people are killed in fatal passenger auto crashes then are killed in skydiving or bungee jumping. Actually the numbers aren’t even close. But here’s the difference - dying in a simple car crash is a result of (usually) just being in the wrong place in the wrong time. There is no deliberate attempt to cheat death as there is with jumping out of an airplane or bungee jumping or BASE jumping.

That was a bit of a tangent there :) .

So why don’t I feel sorry for Xtreme sportsmen. Because they’re STOOPID, and yes I deliberately misspelled “stupid”. Do you feel sorry for the knife juggler who gets his finger sliced when he drops a knife? Do you feel sorry for the sword swallower who slices up his liver? Do you feel sorry for fire breathers when they burn their eyebrows off because the flame came to close to their face? No you don’t! And why not? It’s called “Occupational Hazard.” If you’re going to jump out of an airplane and hurdle towards earth with a shopping bag attached to your back, if you smack the earth and pulverize your internal organs then yes, I SUPPOSE it’s sad. But do I feel sorry? Hell no! You knew what the risks were. You knew you had a real chance of becoming one with the Earth ;) . You took that chance, now you have to live with it… or die with it. Whatever.

Regarding my second point about the debasement of our society and how we could possibly derive any entertainment out of skydiving or bungee jumping. Here’s my reasoning for that statement. Say about 50 years ago people’s favorite pastimes were bowling, fishing, catching a ballgame, driving across the country, simple stuff like that. Across the entire span of human history people have been able to be entertained by simple things, although that usually has been a result of inferior technology and education.

Now that there are resourses available in abundant, I did not feel like missing the oportunity to participate in this bungee jump in Phuket, on 30th August 2005.

This was the second time I intentionally wanted to take a punga with myself - repeating the act of bungee jumping !

First time I jumped was way back in 1999 in Goa.

But this time it was different. I've grown 6 more years older and hae added a few kilos too. I had hired a bike in Phuket to go around the place and then I just saw this bungee jumping place. I could not resist. Went inside and found out that the price is 1600 Bhats - approximately 40 USD. Thats a li'l expensive I thought, but neverheless just decided to go ahed.

There were these beautiful Thai girls, more than ready to help you buy their package. I managed to get a complementary T shirt which I did not want to wear there. I was cautioned by the girls, if i decide not to jump once I'm at the top, the money will be forefited. Knowing all the rules and regulations, I went ahead. The trainer was a cool dude. He kept on encouraging me.

The trainer in charge told me that he'd count down from three and that I should jump when he got to zero. Three... two... one... zero. I froze. I did not want to jump. I was laughing because to the awkwardness of the situation, but the man was not amused. "Come on you Indian wimp" he said, and cajoled me into preparing for another countdown. This time, I blanked my mind and leaped; the other tourists at the bottom got some great photos of me bouncing up and down on the end of the rubber cord with a huge smile on my face. "That wasn't too bad" I said to myself. In fact, I was hooked.

I think the secret to bungee jumping is to conciously blank your mind as you approach the moment of jumping and not think at all until you're flying through the air. It's the mental equivalent of holding your breath, and seems quite easy do to. The fear comes from all the cognitive processing that is natural to do in moments like that. So don't think. Don't analyze. Just jump.

Hope you enjoy the pictures of the bungee!

Of morning jogs and few other snippets of my life..

I really enjoy my morning jogs.

So far I'm doing it since almost a month. Initially it used to be thrice a week, then twice but later it became so used to that am not skipping a single day. I'm starting small, maximum 2 and half rounds at the Noida stadium. As winter is approaching, the jogs are becoming more and more comfortable. But, I swear it was a painful start, seeing the entire world in peaceful dreamy world of rest. I somehow wanted something inspiring to make this activity of morning walks and jogs regular. My hunts for companion never materialized initially and my fitness regime suffered to three days a week to two days a week. And I knew that if I don’t find something inspiring, very soon I will be seen with bulges here and there on me.

And then, Bright Sam joined me in the morning jogs from Sunday. He is an amazing company. In the middle of the track he would say some weird thing or pass some funny comment on a passing by jogger that I wd burst into laugh. Like the other day he said, if someone tells him that there wd be so many beautiful babes coming for the jog the whole day, he too wd keep running like Forest Gump the whole day and would go to office only in the evening at 6.30 PM. He has definitely have to make some comment on the old chaps running along. And god save the heavier beings.

The jog starts with a small brisk walk to the stadium and then the momentum picks up once I hit the tracks. I have not made any jogging friends yet (other than good ol' Bright Sam), but seeing at the people there am sure I will start talking to a few serious type joggers; who I think will help me with their advices to loose weight around the trunk. I love seeing the young boys busy playing football. I always liked football as compared to the most-common-favorite-of-the-mass cricket. Who knows, one day I will see myself sliding into the football ground along with those boys!

Till now, I have been giving maximum 45 minutes to the morning jog. It's 45 minutes of my time.Plus I feel incredibly zippy after it. But my real reason for all the exercise, is because I desperately want to be a person who's young, fit, healthy, and active. I want to keep an active social life, get out and about, keep myself presentable at all occasions. Will it be wrong or exaggeration if I say that the milliseconds one is airborne during the in-between each step, sometimes give a sense of flying ?

For the past one week, I have a strong urge inside me : to build up a few new habits. And seriousness towards the morning jog is definitely one of that. I don't have any need for joining a gym to work on the muscles yet, but as I said before, who knows what I might feel like doing next? I have to say that I'm getting more out of each day because of that change in routine. A few other things I'm seriously thinking about is learn driving (Don't laugh Guys !) and have some pets. Learning guitar was a serious contender as a hobby option a few months back, but that fizzed out with Satya's departure to UK. Plus all the guitarist friends are busy with something more serious in their lives these days. So, Music, you will have to wait.

Now talking about pets, first I would like an aquarium at home. I will have 5 fishes. I even have already thought of their names. I will name them Pandavas (from the Hindu epic Mahabharat) (Yudhisthir, Bhim, Arjun, Nakul, Sahadev). Nice names, isn't it? Then I would buy two exotic birds. Okay okay, if you think that's too much, then I would settle down for a parrot or two. Have not thought their names yet. Any suggestions? And finally a pet plan is never complete without a puppy at home. Now that's going to be slightly difficult as I'm sure my mother is not going to approve of that. Lets see if I'm being able to influence my mom on this or not.
Talking about food now, food has being my weakness from my childhood days. I always was and still am my Mom's favorite child as I never ever had any problem in gulping in any type of food/dishes. Off late, the food habits were in the best of the form. And the repercussions started showing around my waist. Now this morning jogs will hopefully reduce the ugly fat.

Going back to the Jogging track again (you can now make out I'm so excited about it) People come in all shapes and sizes and for me or probably for all us only those peoples who are in perfect shape, perfect size, perfect color and perfect blend of brand  have the ability to captivate our attentions. For me it was more of why I can’t be like one of them, fit, healthy & and inspiring.

I've decided to keep my morning regimen regular. I've decided to keep walking and keeping the attendance up to mark. Like the few serious joggers who keep running and running and running. Like this overweight chap who must be running at least 5-6 rounds. He inspires me. From next week onwards I'll start running next to him, so that I don't give up when its really tiring. I don't mean I will exhaust myself or tire myself intentionally, but I know I can do it. Hence, I will do it.

And with that inspiring note I sign off...

PS: Watch out for my bungee jump pictures very soon.

Malaysia

My Fellow Netizens!

Just uploaded the pictures from Malaysia trip. The good part of the trip was the wonderful weather throughout. And the bad part was my digi-cam fell off my hands and since then the screen has become blurry, thought that has no way affected the performance of the camera.

Looking Back...

Looking back at the gone away days is a charming experience in everyone's life. It gives a sense of belonging to some special people, some places, some unforgettable moments and loads of fun and happiness.

While loading the pictures of my colleagues and friends and family (pictures taken at different times in the past 3-4 years) it was as if revisiting the past. I remembered the moments when we were posing for the clicks admist the CHEEZZZZZ sound. I remembered the bonding with the person I was being cliecked with. And the happy moments.

Most of the people in the pictures are out of touch now. They have moved in life, to new destinations, new jobs. But the remembrance and the bonding is intact.

600 Kilometres; 36 Hours

A trip to remember ! Thats how it can be described the best.

It was a sudden plan. Probuddho Basu calls up on tuesday and asks if I will be interested for a trip to Mussoourie on the coming week end - by bikes ! Wow !! Was my reaction and I readily agreed. Bright Sam, Gaurav Malik were the other two participants other than me and Probuddho. Gaurav has done more than a dozen bike trips across north India and was in fact our tour leader. He had the best bike and loads of experience to guide through.

The remaining days of the week saw chains of emails on the preparations and the bike servicing etc.

On 23rd July 2005 (Saturday; being half day working for me, I had to take leave from work) at about 5 AM we all gathered at PB's place and after loading the bags onto the bikes, we set off admist rain. The first stop was a major traffic jam at Ghaziabad. Second some 20 kms after Meerut - thats close to 60 KMs non-stop. Second stop was due to sudden rain which made all of us completely drenched. However, that was a nice stop at a roadside dhaba with garma-garam paranthas.

Then starts the real biking! I mean cruising aross the highway at a speed hovering around 100 - in the middle of drizzle. That was actually awesome. We kept on taking regular breaks every 40-50 kms till we reached Mussourie at about 2.30 PM. Managed a decent hotel/resort at 300 rupees a room night. And then the rest of the day saw us roaming around this beautiful hill station.

Tired and exhausted, everyone was deep into sleep by 11 PM after a not-so-great dinner.

Next morning (Sunday 24th July) the return journey starts about 9 AM. Descending back was scary. I had to stop in Dehradoon for a while to catch up with my younger brother.

We were lucky to find an empty road. Thanks to Kawandias (Bum Bholes). I had a severe headache but that was no reason to stop the return journey. Moreover, just after we reached the plains, I recieved a call from a special someone, and amazingly enough, I was feeling real Fresh soon after the 5 minute long conversation !! And by 6 PM we were back at home in Noida.

600KMs in 36 hrs. Thats what the heading says. Apart from these, there are many more figures to explain the trip. 4 Bikes, 550 cc in total, 4 studs (ha ha),and ton and tons of courage, persistence, determination, unity, teamwork and the whole world of fun !!!

Mid August gives us a unique 3 consecutive holidays. Who knows, may be this time Nainital or may be Shimla..Or is it going to be Ladakh (Leh)?   Huh?  What say thou folks ?

My First blog

For me the exercises basic to my style of blogging - reading, writing and communicating - are all beneficial for many reasons. They range from expanding my knowledge of the Web to being able to spell beneficial without having to look it up. Writing organizes my thoughts and sufing the entire archive of years to come surely will act as a back up to my memory.
